New project for NTNU: GAIA
Interaction design & webinterface to large-scale MFA database
How to make a 55 mio.+ entries database available and usable via the internet!
VO Interactive has delivered the online interface to the comprehensive MFA (Material Flow Analysis) database called GAIA. With it's more than 55 mio entries, the database is a major source for knowledge for researchers within related fields.
Before this information was only accessible via direct connection to a database using Matlab scripting - and hence only available to a limited group of specialised researchers within NTNU (Norwegian University of Science and Technology).
The project included councelling + interaction design (defining search methodology and -limitations, search patterns and modulation) as well as development of a webinterface with down- and upload facilities for validated users.
The GAIA project is run by the Department of Hydraulic and Environmental Engineering within the Faculty of Engineering Science and Technology.
